Tips & Tricks Tuesday #85: Standing the Client Up

Standing the Client Up: Why we do it, & why it's important.

If you are new to our salon, seeing us work on a client while they are standing up may seem very strange! To us, however, this is a quick efficient way to complete:

  1. The basic outline of a haircut
  2. Balayage on a long-haired client

In our Atlanta salon we stand all of our guests up to start a haircut. That's right! Stand your guest up out of their seat!

Not only does this grab attention, it gives the stylist control of the situation! Our stylists adjust the guest's head in order to get the perfect shape. When we turn their head left or right, it takes shoulders out of the picture and provides a crisp, clean line for cutting.

A better approach to guests who have longer hair is by standing them up! Standing up the client is always the fastest, cleanest, least back-breaking way of doing highlights on long hair. It puts us on an even playing field with our canvas and allows us to paint exactly what we see. And the best part? It's fun! Who doesn't like painting on a canvas and having the freedom to be creative?

So give it a try! Stand your client up, grab their attention, and create a beautiful masterpiece your guest deserves!
